Doncaster Music Service-celebrating 80 years of Music Education

An inspirational concert hosted by the String Department - working in partnership with Doncaster schools. The concert will feature some of this year’s Wider Opportunities string classes. The Journey will begin with some young children demonstrating their very first experiences of learning a stringed instrument. This will then be followed by a showcase of the Music Centre string groups and orchestras.

The William Appleby Music Centre has several very carefully graded string classes:

The Funky Strings, The String-tastics, The Swinging Strings, and The Advanced Strings. The concert hopes to highlight these groups as we journey from the beginner groups through to the more advanced groups. There is then a natural progression through to our (again, carefully graded) orchestras. We are proud that this concert will give us a unique opportunity to showcase all three of our orchestras in one concert -The Saturday Afternoon Orchestra, The Doncaster Schools Senior Orchestra and our most senior orchestra, The Beechfield Youth Orchestra.

The evening promises to be an exhilarating experience for all children taking part and will involve over 400 of Doncaster’s young and talented musicians.

This is the first of our mass musical events that we will be showcasing here in Doncaster.

What a way to start celebrating our 80th birthday year!

Tickets are now available from the Music Service and the schools taking part.
